Hideez is a SAML 2.0 Identity Provider

Hideez SAML Identity Provider

Authentication Using SAML

Hideez SAML Identity Provider complements the Hideez Enterprise Server with new capabilities. The IdP uses HES identity store enabling authentication and providing federation for service providers which support SAML 2.0 Web Browser SSO Profile.

SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language) is standard for exchanging authentication and authorization data between security domains. SAML 2.0 is an XML-based protocol that uses security tokens containing assertions to pass information about a principal (usually an end user) between a SAML authority, named an Identity Provider, and a SAML consumer named a Service Provider.

Besides the fact that SAML authentication helps to prevent users from remembering many logins and passwords, this technology allows IT administrators to manage only one pair of user credentials for all applications.

Hideez SAML Identity Provider built on Shibboleth IdP3 that is available under the Apache 2.0 open source software license. Shibboleth is among the world’s most widely deployed federated identity solutions, connecting users to applications both within and between organizations.

If your application is a SAML 2.0 Service Provider you are ready to add an extra layer of security with Hideez IdP, to enable 2FA and to use Hideez Key as a hardware wireless authenticator.

Note: Even if your application doesn’t support SAML it is easy to implement. In such way, you obtain an elegant full-value authentication solution integrated with Hideez technology and with minimal expenses.
